A modern large-scale pilgrimage route established in 2008, covering 152 sacred sites (shrines and temples) across the two metropolitan prefectures and four prefectures of Kinki plus Mie, including a special visit to Ise Jingu. Founded on the philosophy of kami-buddha harmony, it traces the essence of Japanese religious culture from the great shrines and ancient temples of Nara and Kyoto, through Kumano shugendo and Mount Koya, to the Kii and Yamato pilgrim roads
