Kumedera is a temple of the Omuro branch of Shingon Buddhism in Kume, Kashihara, immediately southwest of Kashihara Jingu. Tradition holds that the temple was founded either by Kume-no-Miko, brother of Prince Shotoku, or by the legendary 'flying' ascetic Kume Sennin.
