A great castle of 520,000 koku of Chikuzen built by Kuroda Nagamasa, also known as Maizuru Castle. Today the castle grounds form Maizuru Park, one of Fukuoka's leading cherry-blossom spots, with Somei-yoshino, weeping cherries, and other varieties drawing crowds each spring.
