A Kuroda retainer from Harima. His real name was Tomonobu. A giant of a man over 180cm tall, known for exceptional martial valor. His most famous story involves a drinking bout with Fukushima Masanori, who boasted "I'll give you anything if you drain this cup." Tahei drank it dry and won the legendary spear Nihon-go, one of Japan's three great spears. This tale became the folk song Kuroda-bushi: "Drink, drink, if you drink enough to win Japan's finest spear, that is a true Kuroda warrior." He fought bravely in Korea and at Sekigahara.
