Overview
An ancient shrine enshrined in the heart of Tenjin since Kuroda Nagamasa relocated it here in 1601 when constructing Fukuoka Castle. The name 'Keigo' is the origin of the neighborhood's name, and some scholars attribute the 'Tenjin' place name to its subsidiary Tenmagu shrine. Despite being surrounded by skyscrapers, it draws steady worshippers year-round.
