An ancient Hakata temple founded in 1242 by Saint Enni (Shoichi Kokushi). Established after his return from Song China with the support of the Hakata merchant Sha Kokumyo, it is famous as the "birthplace of food culture" said to have introduced udon, soba, and manju to Japan.
