概要
Head temple of the Rinzai Tofukuji-ha, founded in 1236 by Regent Kujo Michiie. Boasting Kyoto\'s largest Zen architectural complex, the view from Tsuten-kyo Bridge — famous as a prime foliage spot — is awe-inspiring. The Hojo garden is a modern garden masterpiece designed by Shigemori Mirei in the early Showa era, with four gardens on each side exhibiting distinct characters.
由緒
Conceived in 1236 by regent Kujo Michiie, who combined characters from Todaiji and Kofukuji to name it 'Tofukuji.' Completed in 1255 after 19 years. The founding priest was Enni (Shoichi Kokushi).
