Saito Dosan was a devoted patron of Jozaiji, providing substantial support to the temple. Portrait paintings of Dosan and his son Yoshitatsu survive as Important Cultural Properties, preserving the image of the 'Viper of Mino' who seized the province through treachery. Yoshitatsu continued his father's patronage after Dosan's death.
