Overview
Gojo Tenjin Shrine in Ueno Park was founded by Yamato Takeru to enshrine the gods of medicine. Located near Shinobazu Pond, it is revered for healing blessings and remains a serene spiritual spot within the park.
Origins
Originated when Yamato Takeru enshrined the two medicine deities. In 1641, Tenkai added Sugawara no Michizane, earning it the alternative name 'Shimo-no-Tenmangu.' Revered for both medicine and scholarship.
