概要
Gokokuin, a sub-temple of Kaneiji, is known as the 'Ueno Daikokuten' and enshrines Daikokuten, the god of wealth and harvest. It is part of the Ueno Shichifukujin pilgrimage circuit and draws many New Year worshippers.
由緒
Founded in 1625 by Shojun, Tenkai's disciple, as the first sub-temple of Kaneiji. In 1639, the 3rd Shogun Iemitsu donated a Daikokuten painting, establishing it as 'Ueno Daikokuten.'
