Overview
The site of the Battle of Dan-no-ura on March 24, 1185, the final clash of the Genpei War where Minamoto no Yoshitsune's forces defeated the Taira clan. Nii no Ama drowned with the young Emperor Antoku here, ending the Taira dynasty. Today the park overlooks the Kanmon Strait, spanned by Kanmon Bridge.
