Kameyama Hachimangu was founded in 859 as a branch of Iwashimizu Hachimangu in Kyoto. Enshrining Emperor Ojin, Emperor Chuai, and Empress Jingu, it is the guardian shrine of Shimonoseki. The grounds feature the world's largest fugu statue and witnessed the 1864 Shimonoseki bombardment during the Bakumatsu era.
