Kuzuryu Shrine on Lake Ashi traces its origins to 757, when the priest Mangan is said to have tamed a nine-headed venomous dragon. Today it is famed as a god of romantic bonds. The Honguu sits in the lakeside forest (30 min walk from Hakone Shrine). The Shinguu is on Hakone Shrine’s grounds for easier access. The 13th of each month brings the Tsukinami-sai festival; a pilgrim boat runs from Hakone Shrine to the Honguu.
