A Rinzai Myoshinji sect temple founded in 1648. During the Kanbun era, Makino Narisada — a trusted aide (sobayonin) of the fifth shogun Tsunayoshi — devoted himself to the temple and rebuilt its halls, greatly boosting its fortunes.
