概要
Founded in 1187 by Minamoto no Yoritomo, who invited a deity from Susaki Myojin in Awa Province (Chiba). One of the Tokyo Ten Shrines and the chief shrine of Shinagawa-juku, the first post station on the Tokaido road. The double-dragon torii at the entrance is one of Tokyo's Three Great Torii. The 'Shinagawa Fuji' — a miniature Mt. Fuji built in 1869 — offers panoramic views of the area.

Shinagawa Jinja Spring Grand Festival
This month
The grand annual festival of Shinagawa Jinja, guardian of the old Shinagawa post town. Held in early May, mikoshi processions and floats parade through the historic Tokaido highway route. The view over Shinagawa from the shrine's fuji-mound is spectacular.
