This museum stands beside the ruins of Nagoya Castle, which Hideyoshi built in just five months in 1592 as his forward base for the invasions of Korea. At its peak the site gathered over 130 daimyo clans and more than 200,000 troops from across Japan. After Hideyoshi died, the castle was abandoned, and the museum opened in 1993 to preserve and honor its history.
