One branch of the Three Sen Schools, founded when Sen Sotan — grandson of Sen no Rikyu (1522-1591) — passed the front (omote) tea room "Fushin'an" to his third son Koshin Sosa. Each generation's head takes the name "Sosa," now in the 15th generation. Considered the most conservative of the three schools and the one that most directly inherits the wabi-cha style and procedures Rikyu perfected. The name Fushin'an derives from the Zen line "the spring flower opens with wonder," and the room stands as a symbol of Rikyu's wabi-cha legacy.
