Founded in 1865 by Sakamoto Ryoma with backing from the Satsuma Domain, Kameyama Shachu is considered Japan's first commercially-oriented trading organization. Ryoma and his fellow ronin used this Nagasaki base to manage arms procurement, maritime transport, and the behind-the-scenes logistics that made the Satsuma-Choshu Alliance possible.
