Overview
Historic Osaka temple founded in 1637, famed for its moss-covered Mizukake Fudo to which worshippers pour water in prayer. Appears in works by Chikamatsu Monzaemon and Oda Sakunosuke. The adjacent Hozenji Yokocho alley, with its stone paving and lantern glow, preserves a Showa-era Osaka atmosphere. Revered for blessings of good relationships and business success in the heart of the Namba district.
Origins
Founded in 1637 by the monk Chunyo after performing a thousand-day nembutsu practice. This is also the origin of its alternate name, Sennichi-ji.
