One of the 36 outer gates of Edo Castle. Stone walls built by Kato Tadahiro in 1614 and gate walls by Date Masamune in 1628. Dismantled 1873. Sections of the walls remain in Hibiya Park, and the western moat is preserved as Shinji-ike Pond.
