Popularly known as Hase Kannon. Its standing eleven-faced Kannon statue (9.18m tall) is one of the largest wooden Buddhist statues in Japan.

According to temple tradition, in 736 the priest Tokudo carved two Eleven-Faced Kannon statues — one enshrined in Yamato Hasedera, the other cast into the sea, which washed ashore in Sagami.
