The Guan Di Temple at the heart of Yokohama Chinatown. Enshrines Guan Yu, the hero of the Three Kingdoms. The original was a small shrine from 1862. The current temple, rebuilt in 1990, is magnificent Chinese-style architecture. Sun Yat-sen also worshipped here when using Chinatown as his base.

Yokohama Kanteibyo Guan Yu Birthday Festival
The birthday festival of Guan Yu (Kuan Ti) at the Kanteibyo temple in Yokohama Chinatown. Held on the 24th day of the 6th lunar month to celebrate the birth of the deified general Guan Yu, the festival features traditional Chinese performing arts and lion dances. As the largest summer festival in Yokohama Chinatown, it draws visitors from abroad.
