In 1521, when a combined Imagawa-Hojo force invaded Kai, Shingen's father Nobutora took refuge in this mountain castle, and Shingen (then infant Katsuchiy) was born here during that crisis. Known as 'the castle of Shingen's birth,' it served as the Takeda's emergency stronghold and remained a key defensive position throughout Shingen's rule.
