One branch of the Three Sen Schools, founded when Sen Sotan — grandson of Sen no Rikyu (1522-1591) — passed the rear (ura) tea room "Konnichi'an" to his fourth son Senso Soshitsu. Each generation's head takes the name "Soshitsu," now in the 16th generation. The largest of the three Sen schools, it propagates Rikyu's wabi-cha worldwide under the motto "Peacefulness through a Bowl of Tea." The name Konnichi'an derives from a Zen saying about not waiting for tomorrow, and the adjoining tea archives display utensils with ties to Rikyu.
