概要
The ruins of Takada Castle in Joetsu City are the site of a flat plain castle built as the seat of Matsudaira Tadateru, the sixth son of Tokugawa Ieyasu. Uniquely, the castle had no tower keep, relying instead on triple moats and earthworks for defense. 由緒
Built in 1614 by order of Tokugawa Ieyasu as the castle of Matsudaira Tadateru. Date Masamune served as the construction magistrate. Afterward it became the seat of successive fudai daimyo including the Sakakibara and Sakai clans, functioning until the Meiji Restoration.
