Ancient Tendai temple in western Kobe hills, said to have been founded by Gyoki in 726. Its Kamakura-era main hall is a National Treasure — the largest wooden structure in Hyogo Prefecture. As the 48th site of the Saigoku 49 Yakushi pilgrimage, it enshrines Amida Nyorai. Secluded amid nature yet close to the city, it retains a quiet sacred atmosphere drawing worshippers through the seasons.
