Minamoto no Raiko grew up in the Tada area as the eldest son of Minamoto no Mitsunaka, leader of the Seiwa Genji. He served the Fujiwara regents and gained fame for his martial prowess. Known for legendary monster-slaying exploits including the defeat of Shuten-doji and Tsuchigumo, he is celebrated alongside his Four Heavenly Kings retainers.

Tada Shrine, founded by Minamoto no Mitsunaka, the progenitor of the Seiwa Genji, was deeply venerated by Yoritomo as the birthplace of his clan. In the medieval period, it served as a mausoleum for the Genji, enshrining the spirits of Yoritomo, Yoshitsune, and their kin. It remains a revered sanctuary of the Genji legacy today.
