A Nichiren temple founded in 874 by imperial wish of Emperor Seiwa, famous for the legend of the 'Sumizome-zakura' (Ink-dyed Cherry). According to legend, the poet Ueno Mineo composed a verse asking the cherry trees to bloom in ink-dyed hues to mourn Fujiwara no Mototsune, and from the following year the blossoms came in a pale, ink-washed color. The Sumizome cherry still blooms each spring.
