An important strategic stronghold of Kozuke Province built by Nagano Narimasa in 1512 (Eisho 9). Famous as an impregnable fortress that Takeda Shingen attacked six times and never captured; it is said Shingen lamented "As long as Narimasa alone stands, Kozuke cannot fall."
