A Nichiren sect head temple in Hiraga, Matsudo City, widely known as the 'Hydrangea Temple.' Founded in 1277 by Nichiro, a disciple of Nichiren, it became an important Nichiren base in the Kanto region. About 50,000 hydrangeas and 5,000 irises bloom in the grounds, and 1,500 maple trees provide spectacular autumn color. The five-story pagoda is a Muromachi-period landmark.
