Overview
Kurikara Fudoji (Ishikawa Side) is located in Tsubata Town along the Ishikawa Prefecture approach to Kurikarafudoji Temple, which stands on the Kurikara Pass. It lies close to the battlefield of the Battle of Kurikara, where the Taira clan suffered a crushing defeat to Kiso Yoshinaka's famous fire-ox stratagem during the Genpei War, and remains a historic sacred site visited by pilgrims today.
Origins
Kurikarafudoji Temple enshrines Fudo Myo-o on the Kurikara Pass, with pilgrimage approaches extending into both Ishikawa and Toyama Prefectures.
