Shingen revered Koganji deeply, designating it as a Takeda prayer temple and providing generous patronage. He engaged with the temple's Zen monks for spiritual guidance, and under his protection Koganji gained prestige as the head temple of the independent Koganji branch of Rinzai Zen. Much of the cultural heritage preserved here today, including the dry-landscape garden, reflects the flourishing that Shingen's support made possible.
