A renowned Soto Zen temple founded in 1401 and one of the Three Mountains of Enshu. The temple name Kasuisai — meaning "permitted to sleep" — derives from a legend about the young Tokugawa Ieyasu and the abbot Senrin Tozen. Famous as a fire-prevention temple and beloved by firefighters nationwide. Its Hinamatsuri display of about 1,200 dolls in February is a popular attraction.
