Hachigata Castle in Yorii, Osato County, is a hilltop castle built in 1476 by Nagao Kageharu on the cliffs at the confluence of the Ara River and Fukasawa River. Later expanded as the stronghold of Hojo Ujikuni, it withstood a month-long siege by 35,000 troops under Maeda Toshiie and Uesugi Kagekatsu during Toyotomi Hideyoshi's Odawara Campaign (1590).
