The Yakushi Hall of Hozoji temple in Hirai, Edogawa Ward, is a healing site enshrining Yakushi Nyorai as its principal image. Since the Edo period, local farmers and fishermen prayed here for recovery from eye ailments and other illnesses. The hall retains the feel of humble shitamachi folk devotion.
