Akashi Castle was built by Ogasawara Tadamasa, with two three-story turrets (Hitsuji-Saru and Tatsumi) surviving. As Akashi Park beloved by citizens, the two turrets visible from JR Akashi Station platform have become the symbol of Akashi City.
Origins
Built in 1619 by Ogasawara Tadamasa on orders from the Tokugawa shogunate. It played an important role as a defense against western daimyo.
