Miwa Shrine enshrines Omiwa (Ōmonosnushi-no-Kami), the “great master of things,” revered as one of Japan’s most ancient deities. The head shrine, Ōmiwa Jinja (also called Miwa Myōjin) in Sakurai, Nara Prefecture, has no inner hall (honden) — Mount Miwa itself is the divine body (shintai). Blessings include matchmaking, abundant harvests, sake brewing, and healing.
