生涯
Son of Shunzei. Favored by Retired Emperor Go-Toba, he helped compile the Shinkokin Wakashū. He theorized the ushin aesthetic and in old age compiled the Ogura Hyakunin Isshu. His diary, the Meigetsuki, is an important historical source.
