Origins
室町時代に創建された古刹。津和野藩の庇護のもと栄え、藩主の菩提寺としての役割も担った。明治の文豪・森鷗外(本名・森林太郎、1862-1922)の墓所として今日最もよく知られる。鷗外は津和野藩の典医の長男として当地に生まれた。
