Yomei-ji is a Soto Zen temple located in Tsuwano-cho and is widely known as the burial site of Mori Ogai, one of the giants of modern Japanese literature. 室町時代に創建された古刹。津和野藩の庇護のもと栄え、藩主の菩提寺としての役割も担った。明治の文豪・森鷗外（本名・森林太郎、1862-1922）の墓所として今日最もよく知られる。鷗外は津和野藩の典医の長男として当地に生まれた。
