Five Wisdom Buddhas each 3 meters tall, carved by the wandering monk Mokujiki Tansei in the Keicho era and revered as the "Five Buddhas of Edo" — this 1635 Tendai temple in Nishi-Oi was founded by a disciple of the great priest Tenkai.
A Tendai-sect temple in Nishi-Oi, Shinagawa Ward, named Shiun-zan Yogyokuin Nyoraiji. Founded in 1635 at Ueno by Tenbai, a disciple of the great priest Tenkai, it was merged in 1869 with Nyoraiji — another Ueno temple — and relocated to its current Nishi-Oi site in 1908.
