The remains of a flatland-hill castle (hirayamashiro) built around 1596 (Bunkoku 5) by Konishi Yukinaga, a retainer of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. It served as the main stronghold of Yukinaga, who jointly governed Higo Province together with Kato Kiyomasa.
