Tsubakihara Tenmangu is one of the five guardian shrines of Kanazawa, enshrining Sugawara no Michizane as the deity of learning. Located on the north side of Kanazawa Castle, it shares deep ties with the Kaga domain's academy Meirinkan, and many students visit during exam season to pray for success.
