摺上原の戦い
1589年(天正17年)、陸奥国摺上原(現在の福島県猪苗代町付近)において、伊達政宗率いる伊達軍が蘆名義広率いる蘆名軍を大破した戦い。政宗はこの一戦で会津の名族蘆名氏を滅ぼし、南奥州の大半を一気に支配下に収めた。「奥州の覇者」としての地位を確立した政宗だったが、翌年には豊臣秀吉の小田原征伐への参陣を余儀なくされ、全国統一の波に飲み込まれていった。摺上原の勝利は伊達氏最大の版図拡大をもたらした戦いであり、政宗の「独眼竜」としての名声を不動のものとした合戦として語り継がれている。
