Overview
A legendary castle said to have been built overnight in 1566 by Kinoshita Tokichiro (later Toyotomi Hideyoshi) on the west bank of the Nagara River as a staging point for the Mino campaign. With the help of Hachisuka Koroku (Masakatsu) and the river boatmen, timber was floated downstream on rafts to complete the fort in record time. 9:00 AM–5:00 PM (last admission 4:30 PM). Closed Mondays (following day if a holiday), the day after a holiday, and Dec 29–Jan 3. Special extended hours during the cherry blossom festival.
Admission
Adults ¥200 (¥150 for groups of 20+). Free for visitors under 18, Ogaki City residents aged 65+, and disability-certificate holders with their caregivers.
