In 1590, during his campaign against the Hōjō clan at Odawara, Toyotomi Hideyoshi had the dilapidated halls of Shizuoka Sengen Shrine repaired, contributing to its restoration. Later, Tokugawa Ieyasu, as lord of Sunpu Castle, also deeply revered the shrine, leading to its magnificent reconstruction under the Edo shogunate.
