Seiryuji Temple stands in the Wakura Onsen hot-spring resort of Nanao City and is a historic temple registered as a National Tangible Cultural Property. Its tranquil precincts within the resort town have long been cherished locally as an ancient temple that has grown alongside the history of Wakura Onsen, one of Hokuriku's celebrated hot springs.
The precise founding date of Seiryuji is unrecorded, but the temple is said to have existed in this area since ancient times when Wakura Onsen was already known as a place of bubbling hot springs.
