An ancient Shingon Chizan temple founded in 990. Its principal Jizo is known as 'Kyo-yomi Jizo' (Scripture-Reading Jizo) from a legend in which a monk heard chanting from a sutra mound said to have been built by Minamoto no Yoritomo for fallen warriors, and unearthed the statue in 1501.
