The site of the Battle of Okehazama of 1560 (Eiroku 3), located across Midori Ward in Nagoya and the city of Toyohashi. 1560年(永禄3年)、尾張の織田信長が駿河の今川義元率いる大軍を奇襲攻撃で撃破した戦い。今川義元は2万とも言われる大軍を率いて上洛を目指していたが、信長はわずか2千余りの兵でその本陣を強襲。義元は討ち取られ、戦国最大の番狂わせとして後世に語り継がれる。この勝利により信長は尾張を完全制圧し、天下統一への第一歩を踏み出した。現在の愛知県豊明市と名古屋市緑区にまたがる地に古戦場跡が整備されている。
