A Shinmei shrine in Niiza City enshrining Amaterasu, the sun goddess and highest deity in the Shinto pantheon. Connected to Ise faith, it has been revered as a guardian of the agricultural communities of Niiza, which developed as a reclamation area under the Nobidome waterway project.
Niiza Shinmei Shrine is said to have been founded around 1550, during the Tenbun era (1532–1555).
