Head temple of the Shingon-shu Chizan-ha sect. Enshrines Fudo Myoo (Acala). Ranks second in Japan for New Year's visitors. Famous for its association with the Ichikawa Danjuro kabuki acting dynasty. The vast temple grounds feature multiple halls and pagodas spanning different eras, creating a magnificent Buddhist architectural complex that draws millions of worshippers annually.

Hours
Goma fire prayer rites are held daily. Morning goma begins at 5:30 AM (Apr–Sep) or 6:00 AM (Oct–Mar). Daytime sessions are generally on the hour from 9 AM to 3 PM (varies by season/day).
Admission
Entry to the temple precincts and Main Hall is free. Only the Calligraphy Museum charges admission: adults ¥500, high school/university students ¥300, elementary/junior high students free.
